Teachers

Nevada Department of Education
https://doe.nv.gov/nde-professional-learning/professionallearning

This website brings teachers to information about the Nevada Department of Education’s options for professional development. Professional development is important for teachers to earn CUs, which move them up on the payscale if they complete enough of them in a certain amount of time before they expire. These sessions are some of the most accessible to teachers and rarely get denied for CUs.

3-Act Activities
https://whenmathhappens.com/3-act-math

This website provides teachers with many 3-act math activities. These activities help students discover math for themselves and think critically. They each build computational thinking skills, whether they use technology or not. They are designed to help students wonder and notice things about the world around them, too, and encourage them to think creatively to solve problems.

We Are Teachers
https://www.weareteachers.com/free-online-learning-resources/

This website can push teachers toward any kind of resource they can imagine needing, if one of the resources I have provided does not seem applicable to their current need or situation. It separates the resources by grade to allow for easy navigation and searching.

Futurside Artificial Intelligence
https://futurside.com/artificial-intelligence

This website can help teachers understand the risks and benefits of artificial intelligence in an educator’s classroom. The technology isn’t going anywhere, so it is important for teachers to know how to use it to their advantage as opposed to blaming it for student inadequacies.

Accommodations
https://www.parentcenterhub.org/accommodations/

This website can outline common and uncommon accommodations that students might need in the classroom. It discusses why these accommodations create an equitable learning environment and provides easy navigation for any information the educator might need in regards to assisting students with accommodations.

Students

Desmos
https://www.desmos.com/

This website is an online graphing calculator that students can easily use to visualize graphs while computing problems. It solves the issue of a student being unable to access a graphing calculator wherever they might be studying math and can be handy when completing assignments or practicing class material.

Mathantics
https://mathantics.com/

This website has some goofy, entertaining videos to review topics students might have forgotten or missed in their own classroom. Each video has relatable examples and a few corny jokes. I highly recommend it to any student with frequent absences from school.

Grammarly
https://www.grammarly.com/

This website helps students who have spelling and grammar issues ensure that what they type communicates what they intend. My favorite translation specialist, Clorinda Donato, once said, “write what I meant to say, not what I said.” Although she was referring to translators working between languages, this website helps make sure that when students put their thoughts into words on a page, that what they write represents what they meant to say.

Google Docs
www.docs.google.com

This free resource for students provides all kinds of document formatting to complete any number of assignment requirements in school. The clear tools at the top can make all kinds of document adjustments. Google also offers tools for powerpoints, spreadsheets, forms, drive storage, and a few other niche applications.

→ Canva
https://www.canva.com/

Canva is a free resource to create visual diagrams. If a student ever wants to enhance an assignment, this website offers ample opportunity to spice up what they submit and create a visually stunning submission.
